Life in a patrol

A youth patrol chief leads a small group, supported by adult leaders. Explorers learn to prepare, make decisions and look after one another.

The patrol chief serves the group and learns leadership through practice.

Skills and service

Outdoor activities and service give Explorers a reason to plan ahead, solve problems and follow through. Prayer and reflection connect those experiences with their faith.

Camp and trip details, equipment and costs are shared before each event.

The Explorer Law and Promise

The Law calls Explorers to be trustworthy, loyal, generous and self-controlled, to serve others and to care for creation and possessions.

The Promise commits them to serving God, the Church, their country and their neighbour. Explorers prepare for it with their leaders.

Supporting independence

Give your child room to prepare their kit and keep commitments. Check essential arrangements together and discuss permissions, health needs or safety questions with the leaders.

Niagara currently has an Explorer unit for girls. Contact us about placement and availability.
